1 year ago…

Well it is September 11. It has been exactly one year ago that I dislocated my knee. I can’t believe it has been 1 year. Still not completely back to where I was before I injured it. But I still am working it to try to get it back to the way it was. I haven’t knelt on it once since that day. Just kinda of freaks me out a little. 

Also 7 years ago on this day the Twin Towers were demolished. I feel so bad for those families that lost love ones. Prayers are sent out to you. 

Well I am sitting here in the dorm while everyone else is out on Service Day. I wouldn’t be here, but this drama girl thinks she is sick and has all these problems, so she was put on sick list. I wasn’t too happy about that. But oh well, at least I get to stay in my pjs until later this afternoon. I haven’t done that in awhile. I am planning on watching movies/tv. It is not going to be a bad day at all. 

Last weekend was the school’s annual football tournament. And when I say tournament I mean a weekend of games. There is no bracket system, no trophies/plaques/medals handed out, and there is no 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc place winners. When I heard this I did not understand. Why call this a “tournament” if there is no bracket system and such. They said and I quote, “Because everyone is a winner”. I understand that yes we are SDA and believe such and such a thing, but there is nothing wrong with friendly competition. They have to start somewhere with competition because once they get out on their own they will have to fight for things they want. Then on two days before this whole thing the dorm finally decided what we wanted to sell during this weekend “tournament”. So the next day on my day off and I was running around picking up all the supplies. I was getting very annoyed and was about to start yelling at someone. I absolutely hate when things are planned at the last moment possible. If you have known about such a thing for at least a month, start planning a month ago. It was not a good weekend for me. 

But besides that point I am getting very excited, because in a few weeks volleyball is starting. Why is this so exciting? Because I get to help coach and go to the few games they have. Plus I haven’t done volleyball since high school and I absolutely love love love it. And the girls are already coming to me about trying to set up more games. So we will see what happens. 

Last night a very very very good friend of mine told me about her ring shopping experience. After about a week of trying to get ahold and talk to her, we finally accomplished connecting at a good time. On their 10 month anniversary her boyfriend took her ring shopping and she had a blast. But then what girl wouldn’t? She said she found one she really liked and the whole time she was talking she sounded so happy/excited. I am so happy that she has found someone that she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Plus they are perfect for each other. By the end of the year she should have a ring on her finger!!!

Sweet Salty Air…MMM

I have decided I love living right on the beach. It is absolutely fantastic. Today it was nice and sunny so I decided to go sit on the sandy beach and enjoy my lunch. I had a great show of dolphins and sea otters splashing in the surf. I know your jealous. HAHA. 

It has been going really good. I am getting to know the girls better and better each day. They are finally warming up to me that they are coming into the office and just sitting down and talking. This is great because I don’t get so bored then. That is the only thing I have to complain about this job. You get so bored sitting in the office and there really isn’t much that I can do. Oh and all the websites that I would visit when I am bored are blocked. Oh well. 

Saturday was my day off and I went into the town of Monterey. It is the neatest town ever. They have this amazing aquariam that I really want to go to. It right on the beach, so I went and laid out for a few hours. Plus they have these cute little shops with random stuff in them. I love those kinda of towns. Oh and they had a theater, so later that night I decided to go see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pant 2. I was a few minutes late, so I missed the first 5 minutes. But it was no big lost, because it wasn’t that great of a movie. If no one had ever read the books before they would have been so lost. They skipped all over the place and it really bugged me. Plus it just didn’t seem it flowed very well. If you are wanting to see it, wait until it comes out on video. Plus the whole time I was watching it these 13 year olds behind me kept laughing when ever someone kissed or during those type of scenes. Oh and the girl beside had an on going commentary the whole time with her friend. I kept telling her to be quite, but she didn’t listen. I don’t mind if people talk, but she was talking in a louder than normal voice. It bugged me so much!!!

Monday I got to sub for 3 period of P.E. It was so much fun. I got to know some of the day students, so that was a plus. Oh and I helped some of their girls on their basketball and volleyball techniques. Oh did I mention that I get to help with vball and bball. I am so excited. Can’t wait until the season starts!!! Then tomorrow and Friday I am subbing for freshmen english for 2 periods. What is great about all this subbing is that I get paid extra for it. That is just pretty darn exciting to me.

Today I think was on of the most pointless days to be on duty. From 8:30 am to 5pm we could not be in the dorm because it was getting fumigated for fleas. Now I know you are asking yourself “WHAT THE HECK???”". Well let me explain to you how we got fleas in the first place. I guess over the summer a raccoon some how got into the walls, made a nest, and had babies. The head dean kept trying to get some one up here to take care of it. They finally did, but by the time they took care of it the raccoons were already gone. But they left behind the wonderful gift of fleas. The dorm has already been fumigated twice before this and will probably have to be done again. Thankfully thought I have not experienced any bites….yet anyways. (knock on wood)

Attitude!!!

So two days ago I had my first big confrontation with one of the girls. It was after lights out and I found two girls sitting out in the halls supposedly doing homework. Usually this is okay, but I saw them earlier that evening wasting their time. So I told them to go to bed, because it was lights out. They gave me  attitude and kept trying to argue about it. But I was like no, go to bed. I had to tell them THREE times and by the third time I was just fed up. I don’t understand why these girls have to roll their eyes and such every time someone in authority tells them what to do. Anyways I talked with the other deans and about it and we decided to sit down and talk to the girls about it. It is only 1 1/2 into school and we are already having this problem. Something we definitely don’t want to deal with for the rest of the school year. We talked to them and hopefully it will start getting better. We will see though. Crossing my fingers!!!

Yesterday one of the other deans and I decided to go to barnes and nobles. Well I had printed out directions earlier to leaving, but once we got on the road she said she knew where it was at. Well we got on the road and started driving and singing along to the music. We went through these back roads out in the middle of nowhere with pot holes and everything and we thought we were lost. Well we decided to keep going to see where this road would take us. Somehow we ended up at our destination, don’t ask me how, but we did. I got to barnes and nobles and went straight to the magazine section. Its a weakness of mine and the first magazines I pick up are the gossip magazines. They are my guilty pleasure and kristin always makes fun of me. But one of the deans loves magazines and has so many, so I can just feed off of her for them. HAHAHA. We were only going to spend an hour or so there and then go watch Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, but I got to engrossed in everything I was reading. Oh I started to look at travel books of Ireland. I really really want to go. The other day I was very close to buying a ticket. 

I decided some time within the next year I am going somewhere in europe. I don’t care as long as I get to travel over there. I just really really want to travel. The two other deans thinks it funny that I go someplace everyday. My answer to that is that I like seeing and doing new things and I am only here for 9-10 months. 

Saturday is my day off and I am going to go to the beach and doing nothing. I am really excited. I haven’t decided exactly which beach, but they are all sandy, so it doesn’t matter. 

I can’t wait to see what else happens this school year. I know there is going to be drama, because they are girls. I just hope it isn’t major and I hope I get to know the girls really well. I have started to form a bond with a handful so far.

Well that is it for now. Still alot of different things I am going to do while I am down here so more will come. Plus all the things that can go on at a boarding school!!!!

My life so far..

Okay so I haven’t written in a really really really long time. (sorry kristin!!!)  I have been very busy for the past month and a half, and a lot has happened. So let me catch you up on my life so far.

• I decided at the end of June to take a year off from school and do some type of student missionary. Well it was really late to get somewhere, fill out all the right paper work, and get the money for a plane ticket. So I started talking to a family friend and she told me about a task force dean job opening in CA. So I called and started talking to the people at the school and within a week I had the job. 
• I gave my two weeks notice in at work and I was quite suprised that they were sad to see me go. I guess I got really good comments from my boss (I used her as a reference for getting the job in CA). But they said when I come back I have a job and everything. So I am really happy about that cause I made good money and some really good friends. 
• I got to see Kristin for like 1 week from when she came back from alaska and when I left for Cali. That sucked. But now I want her to come out her for a few days, so we can have some of our crazy adventures. 
• I got to spend like 4 days with my family before I came down here. That was nice to just hang out and do nothing. Then I drove down here with my dad.
• I finally got down here on Aug 2nd and have been here since then. I have really gotten to know the other deans. They are both hilarious and fun to work with. I am still getting to know all the girls, but have really connected with a few so far. But also have had to really crack down on others. I talked to the athletic director and I get to help out with vball and bball. The girls are really excited that I get to help out, since I have actually played the sport, unlike the other coaches they have had. 
• I have gotten to the know the area a little bit. Going on new adventures everyday, getting lost, seeing new things, and random things. Still haven’t gotten to the beach, but that is my goal for this week.

2 more days and just a tad excited

So I have exactly 2 days until I am done with these stupid summer classes. And I can not wait because maybe just maybe I can start enjoying my summer. Like sleeping in, going to the beach!!!, and seeing other people besides those at work. I accidently slept through my alarm yesterday and so I missed my math class and the announcement that there is going to be a test today. So when i got to class today I told the teacher I had been sick all weekend and could I take the test tomorrow. Right now I should be studying for that and doing homework, but blogging sounded so much better. Plus I haven’t written in a few weeks. 

 Friday my brother went home for a month so I don’t have to worry about sharing the car with him and picking him up. Which is really quite nice, cause now I can do whatever I want whenever I want. But anywho after I dropped him off at the train station I had to rush back to St.Joe to meet some friends that wanted to meet up. One of them had called me a week before that wanting to get together and restart our friendship. Last school year after I had hurt my knee this girl decided not to come down and visit or try to make any contact what so ever. So I decided if that is what she wants to do, I don’t want to have someone around me that would do that. So we just stopped talking or saying hello when we saw each other. I know kinda of bitchy, but I was really hurt by the whole thing. 

But anyways we met up Friday for lunch and it was just a tiny bit uncomfortable. There were 3 other girls there and the conversation kept moving, but you could feel a tiny bit of tension. Oh well it was only for an hour or so. I don’t even know if I will hear from her again. I personally think she just wanted to clear her consciousness. After her and another girl left I went to hang out with the other 2 girls at the beach. Since I didn’t have a swimming suit we ran over to Old Navy and bought one. I think it was the quickest I have ever bought a bikini. Usually it takes me a little while. But we went to the beach and had a blast. 

Saturday night I ended up taking someone’s shift for them and I am really glad I did. I didn’t get out of there until 1 in the morning, but I left with $240. So I was quite happy. I had this huge party of 16 from Texas. That I am not sure of, but they sounded like it and they had the cowboy hats and boots with spurs. Plus they loved their steak. One of the guys though had chewing tobacco and usually people chew it on the side of their mouths, but no he had it right under his bottom lip and when he talked it showed and everything. It was disgusting!!! Then when I took one of his 8 beer bottles there was spitting juice in it. I had a little vomit in my mouth when I saw that. But they left me a good tip so I didn’t complain. Oh and these people could drink, but they walked out just fine. It was quite amazing. Then I had 4-5 person tables for a little while and then at 10:45 (15 minutes before closing) I got a table of 7 guys. And let me tell you I think they were pretty much all wasted. The first person to order could barely talk. They all order steaks, which run about $20, and they also order a bottle of wine. As soon as I got everyone’s order the guy at the top of the table was like come here come here. When I got by his side he asked me what my largest tip was ever. I told him $25, and he said, “well if you take good care of us, I will at least double that”. He then proceeded to pull out a $20 and handed it to me. Half way through the meal he handed me another $20. This guy was weird and drunk. He was at least 50 and when I was walking up the steps to the bar he followed me to talk to him friends, and he put his hand very very very close to my butt and I guess I made a face cause he was like “oh sorry sorry”. Then after I gave him his bill he wanted a hug. Just little inappropriate. His bill ended up being $90 and he left me a $30 tip on it. The others left me $10 each. So for a table of 7 I got $90 including the $40 he gave me right off. It was a very good, but definitely interesting night. 

Well I better get off this thing to study. But don’t worry summer is just now getting started for me, so more is bound to happen. Until next time.

Over a month…

I know, I know its been an extremely long time since I have blog and I said I wasn’t going to be like that, but my summer has been crazy busy. And the funny thing is that I didn’t think it was going to be like this at all. I started my summer classes May 12 and they are going to be done with June 27 which I am very excited about. I have classes monday – thursday, but only one class monday from 8-10:20 ish. Then tuesday-thursday I have that class (precalc algebra) plus intro to psych which literally dislike the teacher very very much. She is the worst teacher I think I have ever had. She sits there for about 1 1/2 and reads directly from the slides and a piece a paper in front of her. She has what she says written word for word in front of her. But when you ask her  a question she says look in the book. I know pretty pathetic. But I guess this is what you get for paying $700 for 7 credits of classes. I just can’t wait until it is over, only 2 more weeks. Very much excited. 

Kristin left 2 days ago to make a bunch a money in AK. Lucky her, hopefully going to be coming back in 6 weeks with a big fat check. Hope they catch well over 100,000 lbs!!!! So for the next 6 weeks I have no one around here in MI to hang out with or text which is going to be very hard for me. Ever since I have become friends with kristin I have become a huge txter. Dang it kristin you got me hooked. 

Work has been going pretty good. I haven’t been making as much money as I have been wanting to. But I do have a fun time every time I go into work cause the people are HILARIOUS!!! So when classes are over I am going to look for another job, hopefully one in the morning cause then I can do my other job in the evening. Right now I am looking at medical dispatcher, but the person I called at the medic place hasn’t called my back. I am thinking I am going to have to make another phone call. 

Speaking of medic Kristin tried to hook me up with an EMT. We met and everything and started talking, well I should say I started talking, he didn’t really say much. But we were texting back and forth and we hung out once and we had plans to hang out again, but I haven’t heard from him in about a week so I don’t think anything is going to happen there. But the funny thing is that after he hadn’t talked to me in a few days Kristin asked him how things were going and he said things were going great! Just a little bit weird I think. Oh well I guess it just didn’t work out, and I was a little bummed. I think we would have had a fun time together. 

Well I need to go finish getting ready  for work. But that is just a little update of what has been going on the past month or so. Hopefully the next time I write wouldn’t be so far away. I know Kristin said she needs something to read on her day off. I think she will be too busy dancing with the drunken eskimos in the bar. But don’t worry I will write again.

hip hip hooray for me!!!

Yesterday was last day of physical therapy!!! Yep thats right after almost 7 months of physical  therapy I am done. But that doesn’t me I am done working really hard. I still have alot to do until I am 100% better. But even then my doctor and physical therapist says I will never be back to 100%. Kinda of comforting uh? So I have a home work out program that I need to start and I am going to be putting in a lot of hard work with it. Can’t wait to get started. Oh and yesterday I went from running for about 15 minutes straight to almost 20. I know its not amazing but its pretty good for me!!!

Less than a week of school left and I am done. On thursday I will be on a plane heading home!!! I am SUPER SUPER EXCITED!!! Ihave 2 finals Tuesday which I am not too worried about. Then thursday at freaking 7:30 in the morning I have my AP final, which I am not looking forward too. Oh and somewhere  in there I need to rewrite my english paper to satisfy my teacher. By the way this my 3rd time. Better get an A for it!!!!!!!

I had to pay $724.50 to freaking LMC for my 7 credits that I am taking this summer. But I guess that isn’t that bad cause at AU its that much or more for 1 credit/class.

Well its going to be a crazy busy week but when it is all over I will be so happy. Plus on Friday when i am at home I get to go shopping with my mama and that means lots of stuff!!! Can not wait. Hope the week goes by  super fast!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth Day

Yesterday was earth day. Happy day mother earth!!! And I was walking around campus and there were clothes hugging the trees which I thought was pretty weird. But whatever the art people want to do. Anyways last night while studying for my A and P test I was watching Oprah, which I never do. But her whole show was about being green and what you can do at home and such. Well in between people talking she had these little facts about pollution and stuff like that. There was this one fact that said, “American use 1 billion plastic water bottles a week”. I don’t know about you but I use plastic water bottles, in fact 6-7 a DAY!! After watching Oprah last night and hearing everything I decided that I am not going to use plastic water bottle again. Cause that is so much plastic floating around the earth and it takes a good 100 years for it to decompose. So as for today and from now on I am going to be using my Nalgene bottle which had collected dust on my shelf. I know the water around here isn’t the best, but I am just going to suck it up. That will be 50+ plastic water bottles less for me a week. It isn’t much, but its a start.

henna

Saturday I was out getting something to eat cause I was starving and I really wanted this one cereal that I can get anywhere back in WA but here in MI its been really hard to find. I have found it once at this natural food store by panera bread. So I went there in hopes that they had it. Unfortunately they did not, so i just ended up wandering around the store. Well they had this little old Indian lady sitting there doing henna tattoos for the day. I thought why not since I didn’t have anything else to do. So I got a henna tattoo. I am trying to put a picture up, but stupid AU internet isn’t letting me.

But anyways I went to work Sunday and everyone was asking me what it was cause they thought it was a real tattoo. But I told them it was henna and out of everyone working that day only one person knew what henna was. Back in goo ol’Washington lots of people would know what henna is. But then again half of them are ex-hippies and are in to that kind of thing. Just from that I can’t wait to go back home where there are back health food stores in every town. You don’t have to drive aways to go shopping. You know what exactly what the weather is going to be like…rain. I get free adjustments and massages. Plus there is a Starbucks on every corner and I wouldn’t have to pay cause my mom is a coffeeholic. Plus  there is shnoo there which is absolutely amazing. Can not wait!!!

yeah more classes for me!!

So today I finally went to LMC and signed up for my 2 classes that I am taking this summer. Intro to Psych and Precalculus algebra. Really not looking forward to doing them, but I need to get them out of the way. Plus I put down my roommates home address so I get in-state cost. For a total of 7 credits i have to $724.50. Which is amazing because at AU it would be twice that much for one class. Crazy uh. 

I might be able to come a day early (which I am super super excited about). This might be a possibility cause my last final Thursday gets done at 9:30 am and the flight thursday doesn’t leave until 3 something that afternoon. So I am very very excited. Just need to get through this week and my two finals that I am worried about, bible and A and P. But you know what I can do it. 

Well I need to go study for my A and P test this thursday and finish rewriting my english paper. So lots more studying for me and I need to fit some sleep and exercise in there too. Just pushing through 1 more week of school. Wish me luck!!!!
